Safety for the small boat owner especially boat anglers, is paramount and as such the Fylde Boat Angling Club has its own Safety Policy aligned with the recommendations of the National Association of Boat Angling Clubs. Safety Policy "To proactively promote, educate and maintain safe boat fishing amongst its members where ever possible to Nationally Recognized Standards." To support this far reaching safety policy, the Fylde Boat Angling Club has adopted the RNLI Sea check scheme as its primary Safety Standard. |

The scheme comprises an annual inspection of the boat and its safety equipment by a qualified inspector of the RNLI seacheck team.

The Club has set the RNLI Inshore waters Seacheck Standard as its minimum safety requirement for all boats wishing to use the clubs facilities. For maximum safety the Club officially recommends that a minimum of two club boats should be at sea at any time, each able to provide backup to one another. However, the club does operate a single boat launch rule, boats wishing to take part in this scheme must meet the Seacheck standard. Small Dingy fishing is a natural progression for the dedicated sea angler but does involve many new skills not least seamanship. The club offers RYA training, via Fleetwood nautical college. A two day course involving terminology, general rules of the road and First Aid, including a full days practical on the water. |
